George Xu (New Zealand) made one of the memorable performances of the weekend to capture the South Pacific Open Solo Championship (Class SP256) title . This class provides provides the stepping stone to the top category SP252 class. Stand out solo performer of the weekend was Grayson Masefield fresh from his success winning the NAO UK International Accordion Championships for the second time. Grayson won the top South Pacific Solo Accordion Championships title for the second year with super strong performances achieving one better marks of the weekend. Grayson has been studying in France with Frederic Deschamps. Grayson performed with immense intensity, power and concentration with huge contrasts and styles of music in his program. A very popular winner.
Jessica Chen continued her previous years successes again this weekend. In the top category, Jessica achieved a well deserved 3rd place in close competition with Christopher Thwaites. Jessica is working hard to represent New Zealand at the Coupe Mondiale 2009 being held in Auckland.
