CITATION

Megan Hart, now Megan Jennings, grew up in Mt Roskill, Auckland New Zealand. She began her accordion studies in 1966 at the Marshall Laing Primary Saturday music classes. Her teachers included Eddie Mc Cullough and Violet Powell. She also played in the Mt. Roskill Accordion Orchestra system. She then received lessons from Harley Jones for a short time. In 1971 she began studies with Heather Masefield and began sitting Accordion Examination Board of New Zealand Examinations. In 1991 she began teaching in West Auckland Music Education Centre.

Megan has presented many students for examinations and they have also entered the competitions. She encouraged her children to play and her daughter Amy Jennings has produced accordion compositions that have been performed in the NZAA Competitions. She was invited to join the NZAA committee in 2007 and in 2010 became the Competitions Secretary, responsible for receiving entries and creating the competition programme.

Megan played in the North Shore Accordions Orchestras and for the last few years has conducted the Musicale orchestra.

On behalf of the NZAA, I would like to publicly thank Megan for her years of Dedicated Service to the Accordion in New Zealand and award her Life Membership of the NZAA.
