Christine is also the World Accordion Orchestra III New Zealand co-ordinator for the 144 people orchestra that will be performing at the Coupe Mondiale in Takpuna, North Shore City in August, 25 to 29. Bor-Kuan Song The Open Trio/Ensemble category was won by the Anderson brothers, complete with cowboy hats for their performance of "The Magnificent Seven". Junior Accordion Orchestra Championship category entry by the North Shore Music Makers earned them a 1st place. A fun variety programme was popular with the audience. Conductor Christine Adams. Amanda Aschebrock being presented 2nd prize for the Ethnic 11 and 12 years category. Winner of the category Dion Driver. Steven Zhao won the Free Bass 16 years and over. Eddie Giffney won all of the categories he entered this weekend with the exception of the Open Entertainment Solo category where he achieved a highly marked 2nd prize. The happy 1st placegetter was Aonghas Anderson. Bor-Kuan Song won the Junior Virtuoso Solo, 17 years and under. Anderson brothers receiving 1st prize for the Open Trio Championship. North Shore Music Makers 1st place wth Harley Jones presenting the trophy to Christine Adams. Jury for this morning was Marcel Riethmann, Meg Fidler, Danielle Beston and Sonja Palinich.

FAREWELL CONCERTFeaturing Guest Artists And Prize-WinnersJoan Reekie and son Lionel Reekie. Lionel looking remarkably fresh after having just returned from a holiday in Hawai earlier in the day. Merv Russell, Antoinette Rodahl and Audrey Russell. Richard Hennes and Dennis Lovatt. The Finale concert began with a performance by North Shore Musicale Accordion Orchestra conducted by Erica Knights. Players included Harley Jones, Dennis Lovatt, Cecilia Lynch, Trevor McDougall, Heather Masefield, Jan Olsen, Craig Perry, Antoinette Rodahl, Merv Russell, Megan Jennings. Stephanie Panzic was the first soloist to play at the Farewell Concert. Stephanie was placed 3rd in the South Pacific Solo Accordion Championship and performed the bellows shake extravaganza Adai by A. Gaisina. Next to perform was Aonghas Anderson, winner of the Open Entertainment Solo category with a very nice performance of Basso-Ostinato. Anderson brothers were the winners of the Open Trio Championship category and their performance was well received. George Xu, second place getter in the South Pacific Solo Accordion Championship performed the Bach Organ Prelude & Fugue in E minor. George was a winner in Australia in 2008 for the Open Austalasian Solo category against international competition and everyone could hear why with his performance today. This group is representing New Zealand in the 2009 Coupe Mondiale Ensemble category. Top: Martin Meyer, Dan Robinson, Brad Williams. Lower: Michelle Chander, Tamba Young. The North Shore Accordion Orchestra put on an excellent performance that won them long applause from the audience. Players are Shane Adams, Jessica Chen, Amber Masefield, Jenna Murray, Kristina Panzic, Stephanie Panzix, Olivia Panzic, Roseanne Rosario, Alison Worthington, Aidan Wright, George Xu, Carol Yan and Steven Zhao. Music performed was the International Medley, a 15 minute medley of famous melodies from around the world, arranged by Gary Daverne. The orchestra finished with the Magic Flute - Mozart. After the concert there was publicity photos taken, this photo showing 4 solo representatives of New Zealand to the 2009 Coupe Mondiale, all pointing at the posters and above that, the Coupe Mondiale Cup, that they are working very hard to try and win for New Zealand. George Xu being presented the runner-up (2nd place) New Zealand Piano Accordion Solo Championship trophy and an award for an outstanding classical performance. Eddie Giffney being presented the South Pacific Solo Open Piano Accordion Championship trophy. Lionel Reekie, conductor of the NSAO being presented with the Ben Emmet Accordion Orchestra Commendation Trophy for the highly commendable performance by the NSAO of the Magic Flute by Mozart. Lorraine Parnell and Dan Robinson being presented with the Emmett Family Classical Ensemble Trophy for classical ensemble performance of distinction. This was for Noteable Soundz ensembles very popular performance at the Finale Concert. Lorraine Parnell is the tutor. After the presentations, Harley Jones is thanking NZAA President John Statham for the excellent job he had done leading the NZAA for the past 12 months and also for being a superb compere for the South Pacific Accordion Championships.
